From what age can you enroll in Dubai schools?
Enrollment starts from preschool: FS1 — from 3–4 years, FS2 — from 4–5. In Year 1 usually admit from ages 5–6. Boarding programs often start from ages 11–13. Final admission depends on the child’s readiness and available places.
Do schools offer preparatory courses?
Yes. Most schools offer EAL/English Support, bridging‑courses, summer intensives, and academic prep for GCSE/IB. You can usually start 4–8 weeks before the school year begins.
What documents are needed to apply to a school?
Typically requested: the child’s and parents’ passports and photos; report cards/transcripts for 2–3 years; recommendations or character reference; immunization record; visa page/Emirates ID (if available); address and contacts. We arrange certified translations into English (or Arabic) we arrange if necessary.
How much does schooling in Dubai cost?
On average 40–90 k AED per year; top‑schools — 100–120 k AED and above. Additional fees: registration fee, deposit, uniform, transport, meals, and exams.
Are entrance exams required?
Almost always there’s an assessment: English and Math, sometimes CAT4/GL‑tests and an interview. Younger children undergo play-based assessment. For non-‑non-native speakers — English level check English. Testing can be online or at school.
Can a child transfer during the school year?
Yes, if places are available. The school will request academic history and Transfer Certificate. Transfers within Dubai go through KHDA. The process usually takes 1–2 weeks.
When is admissions season?
Main intake is for September. The active phase runs from November to March for the next academic year. Some schools have a January/April intake. Many schools have rolling admissions rolling — you can apply year‑round.
Is it mandatory to undergo KHDA‑registration?
Yes. KHDA registration is mandatory for all students in Dubai. KHDA. The school completes it after an offer and deposit payment: you'll need a passport, Emirates ID and visa (if available). Without residency, a temporary enrollment is possible until documents are issued.
